Thursday 2nd July - Internal Competition No.2
Our second competition proved even more challenging with the subject of - KNOWLEDGE & WISDOM.
Nevertheless most of the members put their photographic minds to work, and came up with a range of colour and black & white prints. On the basis that the members themselves had to judge and select the winners, by secret ballot. This provided a very close contest and had to ask for assistance of an independent adjudicator.
Bryon Mason was the winner with a photo that was very imaginative (even if he did not observe Health & Safety rules!). The runner-up positions were filled by John Hanson and Geoff Armitage.
Jeudi 2 Juillet : Compétition interne
Notre deuxième compétition a apporté plus de compétiteurs avec comme sujet : le savoir et la Sagesse.
Cependant, la plupart de nos membres ont réfléchi et amené un grand nombre de variantes aussi bien en couleurs qu’en noir et blanc. Sur la base d’un vote à bulletin secret, nos membres étaient si partagés que nous avons du faire appel à un jugement indépendant afin de départager les avis.
Bryon Mason fut déclaré vainqueur avec une photo très imaginative (même si il n’a pas observé les règles de Sécurité). Les places suivantes ont été attribuées à John Hanson et Geoff Armitage.
Sunday 14th June - Visit to South Morbihan
Peter had arranged for Club members to spend the day visiting the area around the Golfe du Morbihan (south Brittany). With brilliant weather the group met in la Trinite sur Mer (with dodgy directions). It was here that we visited the gallery of Philip Plisson, an internationally renown photographer. This gave us all inspiration and ideas.
After lunch we went on to visit 3 separate areas with the object of spending around 1.1/2 hrs in each area, to view and take photos. Obviously stopping for drinks and a natter. The areas included a yachting harbour, local Morbihan beauty spots and finishing up at a boat cemetery. The day was rounded of with watching the activities of boats bobbing around and fishermen trying their luck!
Dimanche 14 Juin : Visite du Morbihan Sud.
Peter avait organisé une visite autour du Golfe du Morbihan. Sous un temps splendide, le groupe s’est donné Rendez-vous à la Trinité Sur Mer (malgré des indications bizarres). Nous avons alors visité la galerie Philip Plisson, un photographe de renommée internationale. Cela nous a donné une foule d’idées et d’inspiration.
Après avoir mangé, nous sommes allés visiter 3 différents sites avec l’idée d’y passer 1h30 par site de telle sorte que nous puissions enchaîner les visites et prendre le maximum de photographies. Bien sûr nous nous sommes arrêtés et avons pris un en-cas. Un des sites était un port, en plus de merveilleux endroits de la beauté Morbihannaise et nous avons fini par un cimetière de bateaux. Cette journée a été ponctuée de découvertes des activités nautiques, pécheurs qui tentaient leur chance.
Thursday 16th April - Visit to Abbey of Bon Repos
Members were invited to visit the Abbey so that they could tour the grounds and take a wide selection of photos at a leisurely pace. So armed with cameras, tripods and waterproofs we guided ourselves through alleyways, doorway, corridors and steps (occasionally bumping into our fellow photographers). After 2 hours of clicking away we concluded – Job Done!
W retreated to the local bar for drinks and discussion. What a good end to an enjoyable afternoon, and by some magical command as we were about to leave, a fantastic rainbow appeared over the Abbey. So who couldn't resist taking a few more pics!
Jeudi 16 Avril : Visite de l’Abbaye de Bon Repos
Les membres ont été invités à l’Abbaye dont ils ont pu faire le tour et prendre agréablement un grand nombre de photographies. Ainsi armés de leurs appareils, trépieds et imperméables, nous nous sommes promenés à travers les allées, arches, corridors et escaliers (se percutant quelquefois entre nous !). Après deux heures de photographie, nous avons conclu que nôtre travail était terminé.
Nous nous sommes retirés dans le bar local pour nous désaltérer et discuter. Quelle fin agréable après un après-midi remarquable et par magie alors que nous sortions un arc-en ciel est apparu au dessus de l’abbaye. Nous ne pouvions résister à prendre ce moment dans notre objectif.
Thursday 19th March - Internal Competition No. 1
The Club held it's first Internal Competition with the subject being - FASHION
This stretched the photographic minds of most members, with a wide and varied, but limited selection. The results provided a clean sweep for the Hanson family, with John being the outright winner - congratulations. Then Jenny picked up both 2nd & 3rd spots. As you can see from the photos below, both of them had a 'good eye' for the subject.
Jeudi 19 Mars : Compétition Interne
La première compétition dont le sujet était la Mode a permis à nos membres de se creuser les méninges avec un champ d’investigation assez large mais avec très peu de production. Les résultats ont permis à la famille Hanson de remporter un franc succès, avec John comme vainqueur (Félicitations !), puis Jenny qui a remporté la 2ème et 3ème place. Comme vous pouvez le constater sur leurs photos, ces deux là ont eu « l’œil » pour ce sujet.
