Marilyn le Moign has been in France since 1968. A busy and successful career in Furnishing Fabric in Paris has been transformed into an even busier retirement in Brittany as president of both AIKB and the association restoring the Abbaye de Bon Repos. Her husband Georges, a retired lawyer, gives her and many members much needed support.

Marilyn le Moign est en France depuis 1968. Après une carrière très active dans le domaine du textile d’ameublement et de la décoration, elle a transformé ce qui devrait être une retraite paisible en une période d’intense activité. Elle préside AIKB mais également « Les Compagnons », l’association qui restaure l’Abbaye de Bon Repos. Son mari Georges, un avocat à la retraite, la soutient et offre de bons conseils aux adhérents.

When Richard Flament stopped his business as taxi and ambulance driver in Rennes, he joined AIKB to help new settlers to integrate in Central Brittany. He became vice-president of AIKB 4 years ago and with his wife, Claudine, they try to take part in the various events organised by AIKB. He lives in St Gelven with his menagerie of 2 donkeys, dogs and some birds.

Quant Richard Flament a arrêté son entreprise de taxi – ambulance à Rennes, il souhaitait aider les nouveaux arrivants à s’intégrer en Centre Bretagne. Il est devenu vice président d’AIKB il y a quatre ans. Sa femme Claudine est également bénévole et contribue à beaucoup de nos activités. Ils vivent à Saint Gelven avec leur ménagerie, composée de deux ânes, de chiens et quelques oiseaux de compagnie.

John Baker left his native Yorkshire for London in 1976 where he joined the John Lewis Partnership, latterly as Assistant Floor Coverings Buyer. After years of commuter hell john likes nothing better than riding around Brittany on his 1975 Solex. John and his wife Christine have been members of the A.I.K.B. for 2 years and are still restoring a stone cottage they bought in 1993.

John Baker a quitté son Yorkshire natal en 1976 pour travailler à Londres dans le John Lewis Partnership où il exercé la profession de responsable des achats pour les revêtements de sol. Après des années de transport en commun, John apprécie particulièrement son nouveau mode de transport – un solex version 1975. John et sa femme Christine ont adhéré depuis deux ans et poursuivent la restauration de leur maison achetée en 1993.

Pat Bromley lived and worked in 6 different countries before retiring from her job as FD for Pitmans. She and her husband then sailed on their own boat in the Mediterranean for three years. Living in Brittany since 1991 Pat has been a member of the AIKB for 4 years running both the Pals Art Group and now the IBA Group. She was elected to the 'board' in 2007

Pat Bromley a vécu et travaillé dans six pays différents. Elle a pris sa retraite de directrice financière chez Pittman pour une vie nomade. Pendant trois ans elle et son mari ont navigué autour de la Méditerranée. Ils résident en Bretagne depuis 1991. Membre depuis quatre ans, Pat était en charge du groupe d’artistes amateurs Pal et mène actuellement un autre groupe « Inspired by Art » (IBA) centré à Gouarec. Elle a rejoint le Conseil d’Administration en 2007.

Lorna Farrington has lived in Brittany since 1998. She recently retired from a career as an international advisor and conference speaker in order to be elected on to the local Caurel council. She is the Vice president of the village Comite des Fêtes and spends any spare time gardening or sharing in family waterskiing on the lake.

Lorna Farrington vit en Bretagne depuis 1998. Elle a arrêté sa carrière de consultante internationale et de conférencière après avoir été élue au Conseil Municipal de Caurel. Elle est vice présidente du comité des Fêtes mais ne néglige pas le jardinage. Toute la famille participe au ski nautique sur le lac de Guerledan.

Joan Cundy and husband John spent nine years working in Paris and the Vendeé during the 1980s. Employed by the same company they instructed in the pre-press, printing and digital publishing industry. On John’s retirement they returned to France four years ago, choosing Brittany to live in. AIKB membership began three years ago. Joan loves her garden and walking, along with new hobbies of photography and archery.

Joan Cundy et son mari John ont travaillé neuf ans à Paris et en Vendée dans les années 1980.  Employés de la même entreprise ils ont été formateurs dans la prépresse, le domaine de l’impression et de l’édition numérique.  Il y a 4 ans, quand John est parti à la retraite, ils sont revenus en France, choisissant la Bretagne comme lieu de résidence.  Cela fait 3 ans qu’ils sont membres de l’AIKB.  Joan aime son jardin et marcher, ainsi que ses nouveaux hobbies, la photographie et l’architecture.

Louisette Grogno is a retired teacher and researcher. She still loves to teach, and can be found helping new residents speak better French at the Conversation Club. She is very attached to living in Central Brittany, to the beautiful countryside and the Breton heritage.

Louisette Grogno a exercé le métier d’enseignante et documentaliste. Elle adore enseigner encore et vous la trouverez en train d’aider les nouveaux arrivants dans notre club de conversation. Elle est très attachée au Centre Bretagne, la compagne environnante et la culture bretonne.

John Hanson has been a member of AIKB for 4 years and has been a volunteer for most of that time. He is Secretary to the Board and you will also find him assisting in the library. He lives here with his wife, two cats and Pepper the dog and regularly sees his 4 children and 5 grand-daughters. Over here, he is involved with cricket, darts and music.

John Hanson a adhéré à l’AIKB il y a 4 ans et il est devenu un bénévole assidu. Secrétaire de l’association, vous le trouverez souvent dans la bibliothèque. Il vit ici avec sa femme, deux chats et sa chienne Pepper. Il voit régulièrement ses quatre enfants et ses cinq petites filles. Ses occupations ici… cricket, fléchettes et musique.

George Howard has been on the Board of the AIKB since records began! She has ‘momentarily’ returned to the UK with her family so that Tony can take up his civil engineering career again following a gap of nearly 6 years! In the meantime George is very keen to maintain her strong links with the Association, anticipating that Tony will eventually find similar employment here!

George Howard a rejoint le Conseil d’Administration d’AIKB dès sa création. Elle est partie avec sa famille momentanément en Grande Bretagne pour que son mari, Tony puisse reprendre son travail dans le Génie Civil après un break de six ans ! Mais George est determinée de garder les liens avec l’association dans l’espoir que Tony trouve un emploi ici.

Janet King was born in Ireland. Educated in Ireland, Switzerland and England before studying at Dublin University and one year at Sorbonne Paris. Trained as Medical Social Worker. Married with three children by first marriage. Moved to France on retirement in 1990. Life long interest in breeding and showing dogs starting in 1955 under the prefix Duncarà. Have judged both Lowchens and Anatolian Shepards at Crufts as a breed specialist.

Janet King est née en Irlande. Eduquée en Irlande, en Suisse et en Angleterre, elle a poursuivi ses études à l’Université de Dublin et à la Sorbonne puis devient assistante sociale. Elle a trois enfants d’un premier mariage. En 1990 elle prend sa retraite en Bretagne. Sa passion pour l’élevage et le dressage des chiens sous l’affixe « Duncara » démarre en 1955. Elle a été juge pour les lowchens et les chiens bergers d’Anatolie à Crofts en tant qu’éleveur spécialisé.

Annie Lécuyer is very attached to her native Gouarec and, having started her careers in Paris, has now returned to live and works here as Clerk of the Tribunal de Justice. Annie is a movie buff, she spends much of her free time restoring an old property, and, as secretary of the association 'les Historiques', helps to organise the big summer fête in Gouarec.

Annie Lécuyer est une vraie Gouarecaine. Après une carrière à Paris, elle travaille comme greffière au Tribunal. Elle est cinephile mais passe la plupart de son temps libre à la restauration de son vieux manoir et comme secrétaire de l’association « Les Historiques » qui organise une grande fête à Gouarec chaque année.

Remy Le Vot moved to Central Brittany in 1983 to take up the post of professor of History and Geography at Compostal. He fell in love with the landscape and quality of life in Central Brittany and became Director of AREP (the association for further education) for Central West Brittany in July 2007. At the same time he joined the Board of AIKB to encourage and help facilitate language learning.

En 1983 Rémy le Vot prend une poste d'enseignement d'histoire et géographie en Centre Bretagne. Il tombe amoureux de ses paysages et du style de vie. En juillet 2007 il prend entre autre la direction de l'AREP COB (une association pour la formation des adultes.) Par la même occasion il intégre le Conseil d'Administration d'AIKB dans le but d'encourager l'apprentissage de la langue française.

Brian Marks has been a member of AIKB since it started. You will find him organising the team for setting up and clearing up after events such as the Summer fete. He is often to be found by the BBQ both at AIKB and at home. He plays Billiards for a local team that is in the National league. Amongst other things he enjoys singing and being outside in the Breton air.

Brian Marks participe à AIKB depuis sa création. C'est lui qui organise l'équipe de bénévoles chargé de monter et démonter la Kermesse. On le trouve au BBQ aussi bien chez AIKB que chez lui. Il joue au billard pour l’équipe locale qui fait partie de la division nationale. Surtout, il adore chanter et être dehors dans le bon climat Breton!

Sandra Marks has been a member of AIKB since it started. She now leads the Radio Project, is often to be found - in the kitchen at an event like the Rock night and the Piaf soirée, face painting at her local Keriven fête and generally getting involved in life in Brittany.

Sandra Marks est adhérente d'AIKB depuis le début. Elle est en charge du projet radio mais nous aide souvent à la cuisine dans les soirées organisées par AIKB telles que le Rock and Roll ou la soirée Piaf. On la trouve également à la fête de Keriven où elle tient le stand de maquillage d'enfant. Sandra participe régulièrement à la vie locale.

Carole Mason has recently become Membership Secretary of AIKB.  She is also a volunteer in the library and with the Spotlight in Brittany radio project.  Born and bred in Birmingham, England, she moved to Brittany in 2007 with her husband Bryon, (chair of AIKB Photo Club), and Kizzy the cat.  Her career has been varied, including: Personnel Director, Medical Secretary and School Secretary.

Carole Mason est récemment devenue Secrétaire Membre de l’AIKB.  Elle est également volontaire à la bibliothèque et au sein du projet radio Spotlight on Britanny.  Née et élevée à Birmingham, Angleterre, elle a déménagée en Bretagne en 2007 avec son mari Bryon, (président du club photo AIKB), et Kizzy le chat.  Sa carrière professionnelle a été variée incluant chef du personnel, secrétaire médicale, et secrétaire scolaire.

Elie Barbeau arrived in Central Brittany two years ago. Born and bred in Paris he feels his integration here has been helped by his two children. The gentle pace of life in Brittany and the richness of its culture – such a change from Paris - are very important to him and his family.

Elie Barbeau est arrivé en Centre Bretagne il y a deux ans. Né et élevé à Paris, il considère que ses deux enfants ont contribué à son intégration. La vie tranquille, la richesse de la culture bretonne – un vrai changement par rapport à la vie parisienne – ont beaucoup d'importance pour lui et aussi pour sa famille.

Maggie Fee has lived in Brittany for 6 years with her two children who are both at Lycée. She has an arts background, and since living in Brittany has learnt the art of the 'crêpière' at the capital of crêpes in Gourin - a skill which comes in very useful at Soirée Crêpe events. When not working, she loves exploring the countryside with her dogs, encouraging her daughter on horseback and her son on motocross. Never a dull moment…

Maggie Fee vit en Bretagne depuis 6 ans avec ses deux enfants lycéens. Formée dans les arts, elle a appris le métier de crêpière à Gourin – et elle donne un sacré coup de main à notre fête du mardi gras. Durant ses temps libres elle part à la découverte de la campagne avec son chien ; elle encourage sa fille à faire de l’équitation et son fils du motocross. Elle n’a pas le temps de s’ennuyer…

Marilyn Crago has lived in the UK for over 20 years where she was a French Teacher. Married with two children, she decided to come back to her native country to enjoy a fuller life. On top of her lessons, Marilyn and her husband Treve hope to become self sufficient.

Marilyn a vécu 20 ans en Angleterre ou elle était enseignante. Mariée avec deux enfants, elle est revenue dans son pays natal pour profiter de la vie. En plus des cours de français, l'ambition de Marilyn et son mari Treve est de vivre des produits de leurs terres.

Isabelle Edwards was born and bred in France, but her husband, Pete, is English and her two children were born in Scotland. She has been teaching French as a foreign language for 20 years and she loves it… 'I never want to stop' she says.

Isabelle Edwards est née et a été élevée en France, mais son mari, Pete, est Anglais et ses deux enfants sont nés en Ecosse. Depuis vingt ans elle enseigne le français - langue étrangère pour tous les niveaux. Elle est toujours aussi motivée et n'est pas prête d'arrêter!

Marie-France Le Nagard started her teaching career in Africa many years ago. She then returned to France to work as a researcher at the high school in Tréguier, Côtes d'Armor and then, for the past fifteen years, has worked for AREP teaching French as a foreign language.

Marie-France enseigne le Français aux personnes étrangères à l'AREP de Rostrenen depuis 15 ans. Elle a commencé sa carrière d'enseignante en Afrique où elle a été institutrice pendant de longues années. Elle a également travaillé au lycée de Tréguier, dans les Côtes d'Armor comme documentaliste pendant 2 ans.
